By providing a birds-eye-view, drone/UAV technology supports numerous environmental protection and monitoring applications even in remote or hard to reach locations. Some of these applications include monitoring erosion, collecting animal counts, identifying different species & much more. Using a UAV allows researchers to collect up-to-date imagery on specific locations and species without spending loads of money on helicopters. Additionally, UAVs are fairly noiseless especially compared to traditional based flying platforms. This allows us to get closer to the ground without disturbing any animals nearby.
